Cooling dishes and drinks for a heatwave at Beerstro14

During a heatwave, a heavy, hot main course isn’t always what you’re craving. That’s when lighter, chilled dishes and refreshing drinks take the spotlight – luckily our menu and drinks list both offer plenty to choose from if you’re after a light, cooling dinner in the summer heat.

Which cold dishes help you beat the heat?

The citrus garden salad and the quinoa salad are both light, chilled dishes that stand on their own on a hot summer evening. If you’re after something more special, try the cold starters: the beef carpaccio with parmesan shavings and arugula, or the tuna tataki, made from yellowfin tuna marinated in gin & tonic, served with pickled cucumber and redcurrants. Both are refreshing, light choices when you’re not in the mood for a hot plate of food.

What refreshing drinks are on the drinks list?

On our drinks list you can choose from five lemonades: classic, cucumber-elderflower, grapefruit-agave, mango and sugar-free forest fruit. These are perfectly cooling, even alcohol-free, at the end of a hot day.

If you’d rather have a cocktail, the spritzes are worth choosing from:

  • Aperol Spritz – Aperol, Prosecco, soda,
  • Limoncello Spritz – Limoncello, apricot bitter, Prosecco,
  • Italicus Spritz – Italicus, grapefruit bitter, lime, sugar syrup, grapefruit soda.

As an alcohol-free cooling drink, the Mango Spritz or the Strawberry Mule (strawberry syrup, lime, ginger beer) from our mocktails are a good choice, while the Moscow Mule (vodka, lime, cucumber, ginger beer) and the Hugo (Prosecco, elderflower syrup, lime, soda, mint) are recommended for fans of classic, refreshing cocktails.

Which beer cools you down best in a heatwave?

Among our beers, it’s worth turning to the lighter, crisper options during a heatwave. The Primátor Weizen wheat beer, with its soft, mildly fruity character, is particularly refreshing, and if you’d like to cool off without alcohol, the Primátor Alcohol-Free Lager is a good choice. If you’re after something fruitier and tangier, the Hübris Meggy (sour cherry) or the Sümegi Sárgabarackos Búza (apricot wheat) can be a refreshing alternative.

How do you put together a light, cooling dinner?

A cold salad or carpaccio, paired with a lemonade or a light spritz – this combination sits much better in a heatwave than a heavy, hot main course. If you’d still like something warmer, our seasonal grilled vegetables or the wild broccoli with Asian soy dressing among the side dishes add a light touch without weighing the dinner down.
